Patients living in border areas have unique opportunities and challenges when it comes to accessing healthcare. Whether it’s registering with a GP, seeking hospital care, or managing prescriptions, cross-border healthcare can impact your experience in ways that matter.

In April 2024, over 13,000 Welsh residents were registered with GPs in England, and more than 21,000 English residents were registered with Welsh GP services. Additionally, thousands of patients receive hospital care across the border every year. These decisions are often driven by proximity, availability of services, or personal preference.

We are conducting a survey to better understand your experiences, including:

  • access to primary and secondary care,
  • prescription processes and costs,
  • challenges and barriers you may have faced,
  • what improvements you think are needed.

Your insights will help us identify ways to improve healthcare provisions for people navigating cross-border care.
