The Patients Association is seeking eight individuals with long-term wound care needs and one or more chronic conditions to evaluate wound care self-management tools. Participants will join an online Zoom focus group discussion on Thursday, 19th December. The exact time will be decided with the selected participants, and the session will last two hours and thirty minutes.

Eligibility criteria: For this work, we're defining a person with a long-term wound as someone with an open, chronic, acute, or post-surgical wound that does not heal after 4 to 12 weeks despite treatment. Wounds can be caused by various factors, including:

  • poor blood circulation,
  • diabetes,
  • a weak immune system,
  • trauma,
  • burns,
  • skin cancers,
  • infection,
  • spinal injuries,
  • clinical obesity,
  • chronic pain,
  • venous leg ulcers.   

Compensation: Participants selected to take part in the focus group discussion will receive a £100 reimbursement in Love2Shop vouchers. Places are limited.

Participation Details

Survey: Participants will answer survey questions to help ensure the group represents a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Helpline Access: All participants will have access to the Patients Association helpline.
Wound Care Diary: Participants will receive a wound care diary to track their wound care routine for seven days before the focus group.
Focus Group Session: The focus group will evaluate participants' experiences with the wound care diary and their wound care management, both independently and with healthcare professionals.
VOX Pops (Optional): Participants can record a short Vox Pop with our partner, Eat More Fruit.
