Excellent management and leadership are key to delivering continuous improvement across the NHS and are central to safe patient care and best value for taxpayers.

As part of a programme of reforms to recognise the importance of and professionalise NHSE management and leadership we are developing management and leadership standards and competencies for all managers and leaders working across the NHS.

A framework will outline the expected competencies required at different levels and set out clear and consistent expectations to support managers and leaders to meet the evolving demands of healthcare services.

We have developed draft standards and competencies, in partnership with a range of stakeholders*. As they will impact all NHS managers and leaders, we would like your help to shape them further. Can you please:

  1. Review and share your feedback via the survey
  2. Encourage your networks, colleagues, and communities to share their feedback using the same survey link
The closing date for feedback is Friday 14 March 2025.
