The Patients Association warmly welcomes the announcement of an independent review of physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs).

We believe this review comes at a critical time for patient experience  and workforce development, and will be an important contribution to the upcoming 10-year health plan. It will provide valuable insights into the deployment, safety, and effectiveness of PAs and AAs, ensuring that these roles support the delivery of high-quality, efficient care.

The Patients Association is committed to supporting this review and ensuring that patients' voices and experiences are at the forefront.

Commenting on the announcement of the review, Rachel Power, CEO at the Patients Association said,

'This review is a vital opportunity to ensure that physician associates and anaesthesia associates are integrated into the NHS in a way that enhances patient care. We are eager to support this review and contribute to shaping a healthcare system that meets the highest standards of safety and quality.'
